Chuck Hopson switches to the GOP PDF Print E-mail
Nov 09, 2009
Chuck Hopson, a state representative in the state of Texas, announced today that he would be switching parties from Democrat to Republican. Representative Hopson won his last general election by 114 votes and was probably looking at a tough re-election with the momentum that Republicans are gaining.

This is a pretty heavy blow to the Texas Democrat party who has been hoping to take back the Texas house in the 2010 elections. A press release from Hopson’s campaign said he thinks President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats do not represent the concerns and values of his East Texas district.

This is a huge push for the Republican Party of Texas! This has increased the Republicans control in the Texas house to 77-73. I believe that Republicans will take back numerous seats in the 2010 election cycle and they will have a strong hold on the Texas house when the 82nd session begins.
