Sarah Palin Vs. Joe Scarborough PDF Print E-mail
Dec 03, 2010

This morning I checked my twitter as usual and found something a bit disturbing, Joe Scarborough of NBC’s Morning Joe in his most recent post to Politico attacks Sarah Palin and calls her a “Bizarre road show”.

Former GOP vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has drawn some contrast in recent days about what true conservatism is. She has made comments about former Presidents Reagan and Bush senior and talked of her own future and how she might do things differently. Let me be clear before I go forward. I am not a fan of Sarah Palin running for President in 2012 (for several different reasons) however to say that Sarah Palin has a “dopey dream” to be president and to rail against her for paragraphs on end, in my humble opinion is wrong. To point out some of his ridiculous statements Scarborough said that she (Palin) has blamed George W. Bush for ruining the economy. Well most true fiscal conservatives would agree that he didn’t do much to help the economic crises and among other things spent money like it was water. Scarborough goes on to imply that Palin is ineffective for the GOP and encourages mainstream republicans to dismiss her.

Now I watch the Morning Joe from time to time for two reasons. They usually have something to say worth hearing and Joe is the only thing on NBC that looks like a conservative. But he has gone too far when he attacks one of our own. Sarah Palin is an effective activist and has done a wonderful job of energizing conservatives. I would like to see her continue doing this. But who am I to tell her not to throw her hat in the ring for President and why would I want to discredit her when she has and is doing so much for the principles that have made this country great? In short a horizontal firing squad within our own ranks is unacceptable.  Now is the time to stand together.

Why has Joe Scarborough attacked such an effective spokesperson for conservative issues? Well perhaps he sees her as a threat to his favorite and likely Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney or maybe he is actually worried that she is damaging the majority party of conservatives. Whatever his reasons you and I must not fall into the trap of trying to discredit those who we agree with on key issues because we disagree with them a few lesser issues. We must stand together if we are to achieve long term results for conservative values.  Yes, we can and must stand strong on our beliefs! Never allow yourself to compromise on the things you feel define what is right. But be quick to examine your dismissal of others and base your choice of people you trust only on their values, the principles that guide their lives and what they fight for and not insignificant reasons.
