Conservative Randy Stevenson to Challenge Lobbyist Thomas Ratliff

Tyler businessman and former State Board of Education member Randy Stevenson announced last week that he would be providing a conservative alternative to current board member Thomas Ratliff.

Randy Stevenson is exactly the kind of conservative Republican that District 9 needs. As a former board member he will be able to tackle the curriculum challenges our state will be facing and will also be a strong advocate for protecting the permanent school fund. Randy’s passion for education is unmatched and he will provide conservative leadership for east Texas.

Back in August the Attorney General ruled that Thomas Ratliff was ineligible to serve on the SBOE but that it was outside of the AG’s jurisdiction to make the final decision. It is now up to the courts to decide Ratliff’s fate.
